Purple-White Scrimmage Set for Saturday
The 2007 Wildcats, who were recently picked to finish seventh in the Big 12 preseason coaches poll, return virtually all of the 2006 team after losing only one starter, Sandy Werner, to graduation. Six members of the squad will take to the court this season after having been a starter during the 2006 slate.
Seniors Angie Lastra (libero/defensive specialist), Lauren Rosenthal (defensive specialist/libero) and Stacey Spiegelberg (setter) will all captain the 2007 team in their final season with the Cats. Lastra finished with 474 digs last year, marking the fifth most in a single season in K-State history. Rosenthal hit career numbers during the 2006 season, as she tallied 364 digs, including a match high of 24 versus
Other notable returning letterwinners include juniors Megan Farr, Jenny Jantsch, Megan Kroeker and Leslie Townsend, who were all members of the 2006 Academic All-Big 12 squad. The Wildcats have the addition of six new members, including transfer Nataly Korobkova, who was named the preseason pick for Big 12 Newcomer of the Year.
