MANHATTAN, Kan. – The time for Kansas State Volleyball Media Day has been moved to accommodate media wanting to cover both volleyball and the K-State Football Kickoff on Saturday. The annual Purple/White Volleyball Scrimmage is still slated for 7 p.m., but Media Day has been moved forward in the day. The team’s serve and pass practice will be open to media members for photo and video purposes at 2:15 p.m. Interviews and additional photos will then be from 3-3:45 p.m.
Members of the media wishing to conduct interviews with volleyball players and coaches should contact Assistant Director of Athletics Communications David Wiechmann with their requests.
Starting at 5 p.m. fans can see the Kansas State Wildcats prepare for the 2011 football season at the K-State Football Kickoff from Bill Snyder Family Stadium. Fans will have to opportunity to watch the final hour of practice before Bill Snyder and team captains address the crowd. Fans will then be able to participate in a one-hour autograph session on the field with all players and coaches.
Following the Football Kickoff, fans are encouraged to get their first look at the 2011 volleyball team with the Purple/White Scrimmage from Ahearn Field House. This year the team returns seven players with starting experience and sophomore middle blocker Kaitlynn Pelger was selected as a member of the Preseason All-Big 12 Team by the league’s coaches.

The Wildcats open their season at the Georgia Tech Courtyard Classic on Aug. 26 when they take on the host Yellow Jackets along with Tennessee Tech and 2010 NCAA Tournament team Louisville. K-State will play its first home match of the season on Aug. 30 against Creighton at 7 p.m. The match will be the first home sporting event aired on the newly announced K-StateHD.TV and general admission tickets will be just $1 as part of the launch party for the new online video service for K-State fans.
