MANHATTAN, Kan. - Volleyball season is almost here and to countdown the days leading up to the start of the 2012 schedule, K-State Athletics is launching a #Sweet16Days Twitter campaign.

Beginning Wednesday, which is 16 days prior to the home opener against UC Irvine on August 24, fans can interact on Twitter by following @kstatesports and participating in daily trivia questions. Each day's question will provide a chance for fans to win prizes including autographed posters, T-shirts, seat upgrades and other great prizes. Winners may pick up their prizes at any K-State volleyball match at the promotions gazebo.

The trivia questions in the #Sweet16Days campaign will be posted to the @kstatesports Twitter account between 10 and 11 a.m. Fans can then answer the question by replying to the tweet. One fan who answered correctly will be randomly selected and announced the following day, preceding the next day's question.

Last year, the Wildcats reached the Sweet 16 of the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 2003 by upsetting No. 2 Nebraska in Lincoln. This season the team returns every starter and all but one player from that run deep into the postseason, and the Wildcats are looking forward to another successful year after finishing No. 22 in the final AVCA poll.

K-State opens the 2012 season at home against UC Irvine at 7:30 p.m. August 24 in Ahearn Field House as the team plays host to the Varney's Kansas State Invitational. Wildcat fans also helped make Ahearn one of the most intimidating home courts again last season averaging more than 1,500 fans per contest.

Season and single game tickets are on sale now through the K-State Athletics Ticket Office and can be purchased online at kstatesports.com or by calling the ticket office at 800-221-CATS.
