Kansas State Coach and Player Quotes
Head Coach Suzie Fritz
On winning…
“I think that is the way it is in this league. All of the teams are capable teams, and if you lose your focus like we did in the beginning of the third set then we are going to make it interesting. I was very pleased with the fact that we came back. I think we were down six or seven points at one time, and that is a very difficult gape to close. I strongly believe that the margin for error between victory and defeat is very slim. You have to be able handle the minor details well when it matters.”

On the third set rally…
“Offensively we were very productive. We hit for high efficiency, and sided out very well. We did some very nice things in transition. I liked the swings that we were taking, and how productive we were from that perspective. Lilla Porubek’s ace was huge. That is not generally how you expect that to go. It was certainly a critical point, and that serve had some stuff on it. For her to go back and have the confidence to do that, I think really says a lot.”

Junior Outside Hitter Lilla Porubek
On the ace at the end of the third set…
“I do not look at the score. I mean I know it was 24-24, but the score is not what is important. I think you have to have the serve, and that will then help the score. I was really happy about it, and I was not over thinking it. I just took it easy and went for it.”

On coming back from the loss to KU…
“I think my mom used to always tell me that if you lose you lose. It is basically how fast you can recover from it. I think we came back on Friday and had an amazing practice. We all know that we have to move on. We cannot think about what happened. We have three more games coming, and we have to concentrate on those. We are not looking at what happened. We are looking for what will happen.”

Junior Middle Blocker Kaitlynn Pelger
On winning early…
“We actually did a drill this week that pertained to a 24-24 set, and I think that helped us out. We were super excited about it because that is what we were working on. I mean we do not want it that close, but it went our way and was really nice.”

On the rally at the end of the third set…
“I think going into that third set, our energy was kind of down, and we picked up our energy. Once we get into those crunch time situations, we click and our chemistry is really well.”

On winning the match…
“It feels great. We needed that rebound, and we only have one more home game. It is really nice to get another home match. We had some great fans today.”
