TEMPE, Ariz. -- Kansas State women's tennis had a rough day at the Thunderbird Invitational on the campus of Arizona State, as freshman Tamar Kvaratskhelia and senior Maria Rosenberg dropped their quarterfinal matches in the main draw on Saturday. Junior Jessica Simosa advanced one round in the consolation draw before falling in the semifinals.

Kvaratskhelia fell to the tournament's number four seed, Whitney Deason of Stanford, 6-2, 6-2.  Deason went on to defeat the Thunderbird Invitational's number one seed, Joslynn Burkett of Arizona State, 6-3, 6-0. Deason will play in tomorrow's final. Kvaratskhelia then played one more round in the consolation draw and defeated Kewa Lewis of TCU, 6-3, 7-6 (3). The Tbilisi, Republic of Georgia native, finishes the fall season with a stellar 14-2 singles match record.

Rosenberg, the number three seeded player in the Thunderbird Invitational, fell to Lejla Hodzic of Stanford, 6-3, 6-3. Rosenberg finishes the fall tied for second on K-State's all-time singles win list with a record of 67-44.

Simosa defeated Leanne Rutherford of Michigan 6-3, 6-1, but fell in the consolation semifinals to Debra Streifler of Michigan, 6-2, 6-2.

Freshman Olga Klimova was also in action for the Wildcats on Saturday. The product of Brno, Czech Republic defeated Karla Mancinas of TCU, 6-4, 6-3, in a consolation round match.

This wraps up K-State's fall schedule. The Wildcats will now turn their attention towards the spring season, which begins January 22 against Drake at Cottonwood Racquet Club.
