Tennis Team To Play At Arizona State

MANHATTAN, Kan. - The Kansas State tennis team will finish its fall season when it travels to Tempe, Ariz., this weekend to play in the eighth annual Arizona State/Thunderbirds Collegiate Invitational at The Whiteman Tennis Center.

K-State joins host Arizona State, California, Duke, Northern Arizona, San Diego, Texas Tech and UNLV in the invitational. Play begins at 9:30 a.m. CT on Friday and runs through Sunday. Draws for the invitational will be announced on Thursday.

The format will feature a main draw of 32 singles with consolation play for first-round losers, as well as a doubles main draw, consisting of 16 teams.

The Wildcats have turned in a solid fall season with a combined singles record of 20-16 and doubles record of 12-5. Junior Hayley McIver is leading the team in singles with an 8-3 record. Sophomore Andrea Cooper is 5-3, while fellow teammate Maria Rosenberg sports a 4-2 fall record.

In doubles, senior Petra Sedlmajerova, Cooper and McIver have won six matches.
