Senior Jessica Simosa dropped a three set match to Claire Ilcinkas of
“Jessica played pretty well. She had a very tough first round match against a pretty strong player,” Head coach Steve Bietau said. “She played extremely well in the back draw.”
Fernanda DaValle (duh VYE-ah), Olga Klimova (KLI-mova), Maria Perevoschikova (pair-a-vosh-eh-cove-ah), and Tereza Prochazkova (ter-ee-zah pro-KOS-cove-ah) joined Simosa as opening round losers but earned victories in their consolation openers.
Katerina Kudlackova (kud-LATCH-cove-ah) was the only Wildcat to advance past the first round after defeating Michigan’s Chisako Sugiyama, 7-6(7), 6-4, but fell to Cal’s Marion Ravelojaona, 6-1, 6-1, in the round of 16.
In doubles play, Simosa and Klimova defeated Cal’s Ilcinkas and Ravelojaona 8-4.
