MANHATTAN, Kan. Four members of the Kansas State tennis team will travel to Indiana and begin the Indiana Hoosier Classic on Friday morning.

Viviana Yrureta, Katerina Kudlackova, Tereza Prochazkova, and Natasha Vieira will represent Kansas State at the eight-team invitational tournament. The Hoosier Classic, which features four flights of singles and two round-robin pools, pits schools from five different conferences including the Big 10, Big 12, Ohio Valley, SEC, and Independents.

Yrureta, who was placed in the tournament’s singles Flight A’, will open the tournament for Kansas State against Indiana’s Brianna Williams at 10:30 a.m. Yrureta reached the Flight D’ finals after opening with back-to-back wins in the 2006 Classic before losing to Notre Dame’s Kelly Nelson.

Kudlackova drew Indiana’s Lindsay Stuckey in the singles Flight C’, and will begin play at noon. Kudlackova went 2-1 at last year’s Hoosier Classic and is 1-2 after last week’s Kansas State Invitational.

“Vivi is really at the top of her game and she’s getting sharper. I was glad to see her play as well as she did last week,” Wildcat assistant Marcos Mendez said. “Katerina has been more aggressive and we’re looking for her to keep developing that type of game which is the one she likes. She played well last weekend and I expect her to play well here too. They’re going to have tough matches.”

Prochazkova and Vieira will compete in the round robin pools. Prochazkova opens play against Murray State’s Lyndsay Ottosen at noon on Friday, while Vieira begins with Indiana’s Erin Clark at 10:30 a.m.

“Tereza played some close matches last week and we’re looking for her to continue to improve,” Mendez said. “Natasha is really getting into a rhythm and getting experience. Her strokes are coming along and it’s encouraging to see her progressing into the player we think she can be.”

The Hoosier Classic field includes six teams that finished in the top-75 from a year ago, (5) Notre Dame, (25) Georgia, (44) Indiana, (54) Kansas State, (57) LSU and (59) Kansas. The doubles pairings for the tournament will be released on Friday.
