Wildcats Begin Play at Razorback Classic
FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. - The Kansas State doubles team of Antea Huljev and Nina Sertic continued its strong player, as the K-State women's tennis team opened action on Friday at the Razorback Classic. The Wildcats secured three singles wins and a doubles victory.
The doubles win by the duo of Huljev and Sertic was their sixth in the last seven matches for the pair. The tandem defeated Annemijn Koenen and Adriana Nieto of Arkansas, 8-5 and are now 6-2 this fall and are 8-8 dating back to last season. In singles action, Sertic continued her strong play from last weekend's Hoosier Classic with an opening round win over Alisa Buslaieva of Oklahoma State, 6-3, 7-6. Sertic was defeated in the late afternoon quarterfinals by Anastasia Erofeeva of Tulsa in three sets, 2-6, 6-4, 6-1. Sertic is 3-5 this fall, but has won three of her last five matches. Also capturing singles victories on Friday were sophomore Petra Chuda and freshman Carmen Borau Ramos. Chuda, after dropping her opening singles match, bounced back to defeat Nieto of Arkansas in straight sets, 6-1, 6-4. The win halted a personal three-match downturn for Chuda and brought her record this fall to 2-3. Borau Ramos tallied the first win of her K-State career, as she defeated Lindsey Gray of Arkansas, 6-2, 6-0. Borau Ramos is now 1-4 in her brief time in Manhattan. Kansas State will continue action at the Razorback Classic on Saturday. Doubles action begins at 8:30 a.m., followed by a round of singles play. Razorback Classic |
