Cats Conclude Action at Hoosier Classic
BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - Kansas State women's tennis finished its second fall event on Sunday, as Natasha Vieira and Maryna Chumak tallied singles wins on the final morning of the Hoosier Classic.
Vieira, K-State's lone senior this season, finished the weekend with a 2-1 singles record. On Sunday, Vieira outlasted Andrea Andques-Garcia of Memphis in three sets, 6-2, 5-7, 1-0 (10-1). Since the 2007-08 season, Vieira has won six 3-set matches in 13 chances. This is her third straight win in a three-set match and was the second of the weekend after defeating Jordan Zachary of Mississippi State on Friday. Chumak, a freshman from Odessa, Ukraine, ended a four-match downturn with a 6-1, 6-4 win over Amanda Brown of Memphis. Chumak is now 2-4 in her debut season with the Wildcats.
