MANHATTAN, Kan. – Kansas State women’s tennis coach Steve Bietau will divide his roster for this weekend’s and early next week’s competitions. Six Wildcats will travel to the Adidas Hoosier Classic in Bloomington, Ind., Friday through Sunday. Junior Petra Niedermayerova and senior Karla Bonacic will travel to Pacific Palisades, Calif., for the Riviera/ITA Women’s All-American Championships at the Riviera Tennis Club. Qualifying in both singles and doubles play for the Riviera/ITA event will be contested Oct. 2-3, while main draw action starts Oct. 4.

Leading the five players into the Adidas Hoosier Classic will be senior Carmen Borau Ramos and sophomore Carli Wischhoff. Borau Ramos won for the fifth time in her last seven matches with a 6-4, 6-2 decision over Nastya Trubica of Kansas in the Draw G third-place match at the KU Invitational last weekend. The veteran from Jaca, Spain, finished last weekend with a 2-1 mark and owns a career record of 32-49, including a 24-33 mark in straight set matches.

Wischhoff capped her weekend in Lawrence with a 6-1, 5-7, 1-0 (8) win over Hannah Kelley of Abilene Christian in the third-place match of Draw D. The product of Heelsum, Netherlands, owns an 8-10 career mark and has won four of her last six outings dating back to April 15.

For the second straight year, Niedermayerova was selected for the singles main draw of the Riviera/ITA Women’s All-American Championships. Last season in her first appearance at the event, Niedermayerova defeated three opponents ranked among the top-30 in the nation and advanced to the semifinals of the event, earning an automatic bid into the 2011 USTA/ITA National Indoor Intercollegiate Championships at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center in Flushing, NY.

Entering this season’s Riviera/ITA Championship, Niedermayerova is ranked No. 14 in the ITA national singles rankings. The 2012 ITA All-American and product of Brno, Czech Republic, owns a career mark of 51-23 (.689), including a 43-12 (.782) record in straight set matches. She has won 10 of her last 12 matches dating back to April 1.

Joining Niedermayerova at this year’s Riviera/ITA Women’s All-American Championships and making her first appearance at the event will be Bonacic. Ranked No. 69 in the ITA singles rankings, Bonacic was moved to the qualifying round of singles play earlier this week, as she was an alternate for the qualifying round.

Bonacic, a winner of eight straight singles matches dating back to April 1, enters the Riviera/ITA Championship with a career record to 58-33 (.637), which includes a career mark of 41-28 (.594) in straight set matches. With five singles wins, the native of Split, Croatia, will move into a tie for sixth on the K-State career singles wins list.

The tandem will also compete in the doubles tournament together for the first time. As it stands, Niedermayerova and Bonacic, ranked No. 28 in the ITA doubles rankings, will play in the qualifying round in the hopes of winning a bid into the main draw. To date, Niedermayerova and Bonacic are 7-10 when paired together in doubles action, including a 2-2 mark last weekend at the KU Invitational.

Players that advance to the quarterfinals in singles and doubles play at the Riviera/ITA Women’s All-American Championships will qualify for the 2012 USTA/ITA National Indoor Intercollegiate Championships in Flushing, N.Y., Nov. 8-11.
