MANHATTAN, Kan. – After hosting its first fall event since 1997, Kansas State women’s tennis will take its young roster on the road for the first time this season as the Wildcats travel to Bloomington, Ind., for its annual stop at the Hoosier Classic.

During the three-day event at the Indiana Tennis Center, K-State will face players from Eastern Michigan, Western Michigan, Cincinnati and host Indiana.

Following a weekend away from competitive action, K-State senior and two-time ITA All-American Petra Niedermayerova will see her first action of her final fall season in a K-State uniform. The three-time unanimous All-Big 12 singles selection is ranked No. 12 in the nation in singles play. She will make her first appearance at the Hoosier Classic since the fall of 2011.

The product of Brno, Czech Republic concluded her 2012-13 season with a single-season school record for wins in singles action (32-10, .762) and a single-season school record for wins in doubles play (27-11, .711). She ended the season with wins in six of her final eight matches and possessed a 12-8 record against ITA ranked singles opponents. At the conclusion of the season, Niedermayerova earned her second straight ITA All-American honor, her second career ITA Central Region Player to Watch award, garnered her third straight All-Big 12 singles selection and her second career All-Big 12 doubles honor.

She was also successful in the classroom in 2012-13, as she earned her first Capital One/CoSIDA Academic All-America At-Large First Team citation, her second straight Academic All-Big 12 First Team honor and the Big 12 Conference’s inaugural Scholar-Athlete of the Year for women’s tennis.

For her career, Niedermayerova owns the school record for singles wins with an 80-33 (.708) mark. Her career singles winning percentage of .708 ranks second in school history. She enters this season with a career doubles record of 60-40 (.600) and needs 14 doubles victories this season to capture the school record for doubles wins in a career.

In addition to the return of Niedermayerova this weekend, Kansas State’s full roster will be in action led by junior Amina St. Hill and walk-on freshman Riley Nizzi. St. Hill, a native of Gothenburg, Sweden, concluded the first weekend of action in the K-State Fall Invitational with a 2-1 singles record and paired with freshman Palma Juhasz to finish as doubles champions with a 3-0 mark. St. Hill owns an overall career singles mark of 22-29 and has won four of her last six singles matches.

Nizzi made her K-State debut a memorable one, as she finished the weekend with a 3-0 singles record. The product of Overland Park, Kan., tallied all three victories in straight sets.

Following the weekend in Indiana, K-State’s full roster will have a break from competition until the ITA Central Regional in Norman, Okla., on Oct. 17-21. Niedermayerova will represent K-State for the third straight year at the Riviera/ITA Women’s All-American Championships in Pacific Palisades, Calif., Oct. 2-6. Niedermayerova has reached at least the quarterfinals of this event in her previous two appearances and has been selected for the main draw of the event for the second straight season.
