TULSA, Okla. Natasha Vieira won Kansas State’s first singles match of the fall season on Saturday afternoon during the second day of the Hurricane Invitational at the Michael D. Case Tennis Center.

Vieira, a sophomore from Carabobo, Venezuela, defeated Tayler Pippen of Oral Roberts (6-4, 6-2) to advance in the consolation bracket of the White Draw. Vieira now has a 14-30 career record and has evened her fall mark at 1-1.

In other singles action on Saturday, senior Viviana Yrureta advanced in the consolation bracket of the Blue Draw with a default win over Nanar Airapetian of Arkansas. Junior Katerina Kudlackova fell

(6-1, 6-1) to Yawna Allen of Oklahoma State in the other consolation match in the Blue Draw. Yrureta will face Allen on Sunday morning.

The Wildcats’ two freshmen, Antea Huljev and Pauline Guemas, are still in search of their first career singles victories at K-State. Huljev was set down in three sets by Nataliya Shatkovskaya of Oklahoma State (1-6, 6-2, 6-1). Guemas was swept by Rafaela Souza of Oral Roberts (6-0, 6-0).

In doubles play, Kudlackova and Huljev secured K-State’s first doubles win of the fall campaign with an 8-6 triumph over Rebecca Row and Alexandra Kichoutkin of Tulsa in the Red Draw. The duo will now face Marta Marcinkowska and Thalia Barriga of Tulsa on Sunday morning, as they defeated Yrureta and Vieira 8-5 on Saturday.

Guemas was paired with a Razorback for the second straight day and was victorious for the first time. Guemas and Delia Damaschin defeated Jenna Webster of Tulsa and Corrine Langston of Oral Roberts, 8-4.

Kansas State will conclude action at the Hurricane Invitational on Sunday.
