MANHATTAN, Kan. - The Kansas State women's tennis team was honored with an Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) All-Academic Team Award for having a team grade-point average of 3.2 or above.

"It is a terrific honor for the members of our team." Kansas State head women's tennis coach Steve Bietau said. "I think they demonstrate what is great about college athletics, which is to study and compete at a high level at the same time."

The 2000-2001 Wildcats posted a team GPA of 3.364 to earn the honor. Individually, junior Kathy Chuda and sophomore Petra Sedlmajerova each earned a 4.0 GPA this spring to help K-State's cause. Of the eight team members, seven posted a 3.0 GPA or higher. Kansas State was one of 52 teams honored by the ITA and one of only three Big 12 schools (Texas, Oklahoma).
