Tennis Inks Two
July 17, 2002 MANHATTAN, Kan. - Kansas State tennis head coach Steve Bietau announced Wednesday that Lenka Lovcikova and Jessica Simosa have signed national letters of intent to play at Kansas State in 2002-2003. Lovcikova, a native of Prehrady, Czech Republic, ranked as high as 42nd nationally and fourth in the republic. She also qualified for the Czech Republic national championship five times. Simosa, a native of Valencia, Venezuela, was a member of the Fed Cup pre-team for Venezuela and was the top junior singles and doubles player in Venezuela in 2001. She played on the COSAT Junior Tour for four years and was a quarterfinalist at the Simon Bolivar Cup in 2000 and 2001. Simosa highest International Tennis Federation junior world singles ranking was No. 234 in 2001 and No. 177 in doubles in 2002. Kansas State finished the 2001-2002 season 12-9 overall and 6-5 in the Big 12 Conference. |
