K-State Tennis to Host Four Camps
MANHATTAN, Kan. - Kansas State women's tennis coach Steve Bietau will host four camp sessions during the upcoming summer months. The four sessions will be held for a variety of age groups and will begin on June 21. All camps will be conducted at the K-State Recreation Center tennis courts.
The first and second camp sessions, QuickStart Camp I and II, will be for children ages 5-8 and 8-10. These camps will begin on June 21 and conclude on June 24. The cost for either session is $35. The QuickStart Camp I will meet from 8 a.m. until 8:45 a.m. The QuickStart Camp II will meet from 9 a.m. until 10 a.m.
QuickStart tennis is a new format to help kids 10 and under learn and play the game. To make it easier for them, the court sizes, the racquet sizes, the ball, the scoring system and even the net heights have all been adjusted to help the age group learn the game.
The third session, Junior High Camp, will also be conducted on June 21-24 but will meet from 10:30 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. The cost for this session is $50.
The Junior High Camp will focus on developing sound strokes, movement, and age/skill appropriate competition.
The final session, High School Camp, will be conducted on August 2-5. This is a more intensive camp that will meet for four hours per day (9-11 a.m. and 1-3 p.m.). The cost for this camp is $95.
The High School Camp is for players who are beginning to compete and anticipate playing on their high school team. Strokes, conditioning and patterns of play for singles and doubles will be covered.
