LINCOLN, Neb. Kansas State captured the doubles point for the third straight match, but were swept in singles play by No. 67 Nebraska and lost 6-1 to conclude the 2008 regular season on Sunday afternoon at the Nebraska Tennis Center.

 

K-State (7-13, 3-8 Big 12) secured its lone point on Sunday, as the number two doubles pair of freshmen Vanessa Cottin and Antea Huljev outlasted Stephanie Evans and Maria Ring, 9-8 (6). After snapping a four-match losing skid on Friday with an 8-4 win over Alyssa Palen and Caitlin Loprinzi of Iowa State, the duo pushed their record to 4-5 and 3-5 in Big 12 doubles play on Sunday.

 

The Wildcats’ first doubles win came from the number three doubles pair of sophomore Natasha Vieira and senior Viviana Yrureta. The duo tallied an 8-4 decision over Amber Chandronnait and Wiveca Swarting. This brings the overall record of Vieira and Yrureta to 7-9 and elevates their Big 12 mark to 5-3.

 

Kansas State will enter the Big 12 Championships in College Station, Texas, on Thursday as the number 10 seed.
