Series History and Notes
Kansas leads the series, 39-11... Kansas State has won three straight in the series and seven of the last 10... The Wildcats won the last meeting against Kansas, 4-1, on April 28, 2011 in Waco, Texas during the first round of the 2011 Big 12 Championships... K-State is 4-15 against the Jayhawks in matches played in Manhattan/Wamego... The Wildcats defeated Kansas in the last meeting between the squads in Wamego, 7-0, on March 31, 2010... It was the first time K-State shut out Kansas in the series.
K-State Gameday, hosted by Cameron Banning and Craig Holman, will film a 30-minute show feature profiles and analysis on the 2012 squad. The show will air on K-StateHD.TV at 6 p.m., beginning on Saturday night.

MANHATTAN, Kan. – No. 71 Kansas State will close out the 2012 spring schedule this weekend, as the Wildcats host Sunflower State rival Kansas on Saturday afternoon. First serve is set for 1 p.m., and is slated to be played outdoors at the Wamego Recreation Complex. Saturday’s match will be Senior Day for the Wildcats, as K-State honors the career of senior Petra Chuda prior to the start of the match.
K-State Gameday will tape a 30-minute show featuring the K-State Tennis team from Saturday’s K-State/KU match on Saturday, with hosts Cameron Banning and Craig Holman. Fans can see the show at 6 p.m. on K-StateHD.TV as an on-demand feature. The show will include profiles and analysis on the this year’s K-State women’s tennis team.

K-State put an end to its six-match last weekend, as the Wildcats carded a pair of 4-3 wins at Iowa State and Missouri. With the win over the Tigers on April 15, Kansas State notched the 300th win in the program’s 37 years. Head coach Steve Bietau, the career leader for wins in K-State women’s tennis history, has been responsible for 254 of those victories (84.7 percent).
The Wildcats saw three players record 2-0 marks over the weekend, as Petra Niedermayerova, Karla Bonacic and Carmen Borau Ramos each registered unblemished records. The two wins by Borau Ramos were crucial to the cause, as she clinched the match point in both matches from two separate positions in the singles lineup.
Niedermayerova, ranked No. 27 in this week’s Campbell/ITA national singles rankings, has won 15 of her last 19 matches and the sophomore from Brno, Czech Republic is 21-11 (.656) overall this season and is 45-21 (.682) in her career. Her career winning percentage of .682 ranks fourth in school history. Niedermayerova has played her entire career for the Wildcats in the number one position in the lineup and owns a career mark of 34-9 at this spot in the lineup.
Bonacic, the No. 101 player in the nation, has won 16 of her last 21 outings and owns a 54-33 (.621) career mark. With nine more career singles wins, Bonacic will move into a tie for sixth on the K-State career singles wins list. Bonacic’s career singles winning percentage of .621 currently ranks tied for fifth in school history.
In her career, Bonacic is 41-13 in dual match play which includes her record of 15-5 this season. In terms of her play from the number two position in the lineup, Bonacic is 20-7 in her career in the number two spot and has played every match this season in the second position.
With one more win this season, both Niedermayerova and Bonacic will tie for 10th in school history for singles wins in a season as the duo both own a team-leading 21 singles wins this season. Bonacic’s record of 21-9 has tied her career-high for a season, while Niedermayerova needs three wins to tie her career-best from last season of 24 wins.
Following the weekend’s match against the Jayhawks, K-State will travel to the 2012 Big 12 Tennis Championships in College Station, Texas, on April 26-29.
