MANHATTAN, Kan. Fernanda Da Valle and Olga Klimova won at No. 2 doubles for Kansas State to help the Wildcats avoid a sweep, but the Wildcats lost the doubles point and were shut-out by No. 8 Baylor, 7-0, at the Washburn Tennis Facility on Saturday.

Kansas State made it tough on the Bears at all three doubles positions, but Baylor won at No. 1 and No. 3 to clinch the point. At No. 2, Da Valle and Klimova clawed their way out of a 5-2 hole, and won an 8-5 decision over Baylor’s Daniela Covello and Iva Mihaylova.

In singles play, Baylor won the first set in four of the six matches and went on to win those four matches in straight sets. Mihaylova defeated Klimova at the No. 5 position, 6-1, 6-0, to give the victory to the Bears.

K-State’s Katerina Kudlackova and Da Valle eached jumped out to 6-3 first-set victories in their matches, but dropped the second set and the tie-break

The Wildcats play their final home match of the season on Sunday when they host the Missouri Tigers at noon. All K-State home matches are played outdoors at the Washburn Tennis Facility at the Peters Recreation Complex in Manhattan unless rain or wind forces them indoors at Ahearn Fieldhouse. Admission to all K-State tennis matches if free.
