MANHATTAN, Kan. Kansas State’s Fernanda Da Valle won her fifth consecutive singles match and also won in doubles play, helping the No. 58 Wildcats to a 7-0 sweep over Iowa State at the Washburn Tennis Facility on Saturday.

Kansas State (7-6, 3-2) earned the doubles point after sweeping through all three doubles matches and kept the momentum going through individual play. Tamar Kvaratskhelia and Maria Perevoschikova made their season debut at No. 1 singles for Kansas State and posted a 8-3 win over Jill Palen and Eve Soriano.

Kvaratskhelia was the first singles player to finish, topping Iowa State’s (2-8, 0-6) Palen in straight sets at No. 1 singles, to give the Wildcats a 2-0 lead.

Da Valle’s straight-set win over Beth Chermel at No. 4 singles put K-State up 3-0 and extended her winning streak to five matches. The win also tied Da Valle with Perevoschikova and Kvaratskhelia for the team lead with 17 singles wins this season.

Katerina Kudlackova clinched the match for Kansas State with a straight-set victory over Danielle Uscinski at No. 3 singles.

Jessica Simosa won at No. 2 singles for Kansas State, snapping a personal four match skid. Simosa lost four consecutive three set matches before beating Kara Hickey in a tie-break on Saturday.

Olga Klimova and Tereza Prochazkova also notched wins for the Wildcats in the team’s third sweep of the season. Kansas State also swept Wichita State and Drake. K-State lost only two sets throughout Saturday’s match with the Cyclones.

The Wildcats continue Big 12 play and host Oklahoma (6-9, 1-3) on Sunday at noon. All K-State home matches are played outdoors at the Washburn Tennis Facility at the Peters Recreation Complex in Manhattan unless rain or wind forces them indoors at Ahearn Fieldhouse. Admission to all K-State tennis matches if free.
