MANHATTAN, Kan. - Kansas State junior Hayley McIver garnered K-State's first Big 12 Tennis Player of the Week honor for 2003 on Tuesday.

McIver, K-State's No. 5 singles player, currently has a four-match winning streak and has won seven of her last eight matches. The 6-0 lefthander helped the Wildcats to an undefeated weekend with road victories over Iowa State and No. 34 Missouri. McIver was instrumental in K-State's upset of Missouri when she clinched the match with a three-set victory over Mary Barry.

The Brisbane, Queensland, Australia, native is 18-9 overall and 5-1 in Big 12 singles play. McIver's singles wins are more than she has recorded in her two previous years combined.

In doubles, McIver has a 15-8 overall record and a 5-1 mark in league action. She teammed with sophomore Andrea Cooper to go 2-0 this past weekend at No. 2 doubles.

Kansas State returns to action this weekend when it hosts Colorado Saturday at noon at the Washburn Tennis Facility. The Wildcats are 9-4 overall and 4-2 in the Big 12 this season.
