MANHATTAN, Kan. Kansas State women’s tennis will host a pair of Big 12 home matches this weekend, as the Wildcats welcome in Missouri on Saturday and Colorado on Sunday. Both matches are scheduled for 11 a.m. starts. The matches are slated to be played at the Wamego Recreation Complex.
K-State (3-5, 0-1 Big 12) will look to end a three-match losing streak and a two-match home skid. The Wildcats lead the overall series with the Tigers, 22-8, but the teams have alternated the last four meetings between the schools. K-State captured last season’s meeting in Columbia, Mo., 5-2, on March 14. This season, Missouri (5-5, 1-1) is ranked No. 67 in Campbell’s/ITA National Rankings for March 17.
Colorado (6-5, 2-0) leads the series with K-State, 20-11 and has won four of the last five meetings with the Wildcats. The Buffaloes defeated the Wildcats 7-0 on March 16 in Boulder, Colo.
K-State captured the doubles point for the fourth time this season during its last match on March 13 at Iowa State. The Wildcats are 3-1 this season when winning the doubles point. K-State has been led recently in doubles play by sophomore Antea Huljev and freshman Petra Chuda with a 2-0 record from the number three position.
In singles action, sophomore Vanessa Cottin won her first career match at the number three position with a 6-4, 6-2 decision over Tessa Lang of Iowa State. Freshman Mariya Slupska has won two of her last three singles matches to bring her overall record to 9-10 this season.
Following this weekend’s action, Kansas State
will embark on a five-match road trip from March 28 until April 8.
