Wildcats Drop 4-3 Heartbreaker to Oklahoma State
The Wildcats (5-3, 1-2) opened the match with a 2-1 doubles point victory and took an early 1-0 lead. Tamar Kvaratskhelia and Maria Perevoschikova defeated Zana Masnic and Yawna Allen at No. 2 doubles, 8-4, and Jessica Simosa and Katerina Kudlackova followed with an 8-4 decision over Iryna Tkachenko and Marta Tsvika at No. 1.
Simosa extended the lead to 2-0 when she beat Masnic at No. 2 singles. Masnic won the first three games of the first set, but Simosa rallied with nine straight wins taking the first set 6-3, and building a 3-0 lead in the second. Simosa won the second set 6-2.
Kvaratskhelia defeated Tkachenko at No. 1 singles to give K-State a 3-1 edge but the Wildcats couldn’t muster a win in the final three matches.
Oklahoma State’s (5-5, 1-1) Lauren Simmons and Zuzanna Osinska broke Fernanda Da Valle and Olga Klimova’s four-match doubles winning streak with a tie-break win at No. 3 doubles.
