Tulsa Holds Off K-State, 5-2
Tulsa (13-2, 2-0 CUSA) won all three doubles matches to earn the doubles point and jumped ahead in singles before holding off a late charge by Kansas State (2-6, 0-1 Big 12).
The Wildcats got off to a hot start in doubles, leading in the No. 1 and No. 2 matches through the first six games. The 33rd-ranked Golden Hurricane turned things around with a win at No. 3 doubles and rallied in both top matches to secure the go-ahead point.
K-State’s Tamar Kvaratskhelia won at No. 2 singles over Carla Zabaleta to keep the Wildcats in the match with three positions yet to finish but Viviana Yrureta fell in three sets at No. 1 to Kindsay Grimes to give the Golden Hurricane the win.
Olga Klimova was defeated in three sets in her match against Agostina Santoro at No. 5 singles and Natasha Vieira fell in three sets to Jenna Webster at No. 6.
