Tennis Unable to Handle Boise State in 5-2 Loss
Viviana Yrureta and Fernanda Da Valle both earned wins at the top of the singles order for K-State but it wasn’t enough to raise the Wildcats from an early doubles point deficit.
Da Valle continued her recent string of success by winning her third-consecutive singles match in dual play. Da Valle played in her first ever match at No. 2 singles and topped Bianca Jochimsen, 6-3, 6-3, to push her dual record to 4-1 this season.
Yrureta needed extra games in the first set and was forced into a tie-break in the second set but outlasted
The Wildcats were without injured players Tamar Kvaratskhelia and Maria Perevoshchikova on Saturday. The duo played at No. 3 doubles for K-State through the first four matches of the season and had occupied the No. 2 and No. 3 singles positions until Saturday.
Wildcat head coach Steve Bietau inserted Natasha Vieira at No. 5 and Tereza Prochazkova played in her first match at No. 6 since having minor knee surgery before winter break.
Vieira was defeated in straight sets by Tiffany Coll and Prochazkova took the first set against the Broncos’ Klaudia Wlodarczyk before losing in three sets.
