WICHITA, Kan. The Kansas State Wildcats became the second Big 12 team to fall at the hands of the Wichita State this season after dropping a 6-1 decision in Wichita on Saturday.

Wichita State (3-0, 0-0 Missouri Valley) snapped a 10-match losing streak to Kansas State and avenged a 7-0 loss to the Wildcats (1-1, 0-0 Big 12) in Manhattan last season by winning the doubles point and winning all but one in singles.

Kansas State’s Maria Perevoshchikova won at No. 3 singles over Lenore Lazaroiu to help Kansas State avoid the sweep. Wichita State swept Wyoming last Saturday before upending Nebraska in Lincoln, 6-1.

Wichita State put any hope of a Kansas State rally away when Anna Egorova defeated the Wildcats’ Fernanda Da Valle and Florentina Hanisch topped K-State’s Tamar Kvaratskhelia to seal the match.

With the match already decided Kansas State’s Olga Klimova fell to Torrie Browning and Katerina Kudlackova was outlasted by Stephanie Dalmacio in three sets.

The Wildcats will take a nearly two week hiatus before continuing their non-conference schedule against Utah and Brigham Young in Manhattan on Feb. 16 and 17.
