MANHATTAN, Kan. Despite a dominating 7-0 win over Drake on Sunday, the Kansas State Wildcats remained at No. 67 in the most recent Fila Collegiate Tennis Rankings released on Tuesday.
Kansas State (1-0, 0-0) debuted at No. 67 in the pre-season poll released via the Intercollegiate Tennis Association, the governing body of collegiate tennis, on January 10, before the Wildcats topped Drake 7-0 to open the season at the Cottonwood Racquet Club in Manhattan.
In all, seven teams from the Big 12 garnered national rankings with Baylor claiming the highest spot at No. 8 following a drop from No. 3 to No. 15 by Texas. K-State is the third-highest ranked team from the Big 12 North behind No. 37 Nebraska and No. 41 Colorado.
The ranking remains the highest for the Wildcats since being tabbed as the No. 65 team in the country in April of 2005.
Kansas State hits the road for the first time in the 2006 regular season when they take on the Texas Tech Lady Raiders at 10:30 a.m. in Lubbock, Tex., on Sunday. Tech remained the No. 61 team in the nation in Tuesday’s rankings.
