ATHENS, Ga. Kansas State picked up four more singles wins and two more doubles wins on the final day of round-robin play Sunday at the Georgia Bulldog Invitational and capped a strong start to the spring season. The Wildcats went 8-10 in singles play and 4-5 in doubles, but combined for an 8-4 singles mark and 4-2 doubles mark against Troy and Mississippi State.

Jessica Simosa defeated Mississippi State’s Renee Joseph in straight sets to finish 2-1 on the weekend and tied for the team lead in wins with Fernanda Da Valle (duh VYE-ah) and Maria Perevoschikova (pair-a-vosh-eh-cove-ah). Da Valle and Perevoschikova also finished 2-1 after winning singles matches against Mississippi State on Sunday.

In doubles play the Wildcats took two of three matches from Troy, including a 9-7 win by Simosa and Katerina Kudlackova (kud-LATCH-cove-ah) over Suzanne Jones and Rawia Elsisi. Simosa and Kudlackova knotched a 2-1 record in doubles for the tournament, their first together as doubles partners.
