Wildcats Advance Two Past First Round of Doubles


 

 
 

MANHATTAN, Kan. Host Kansas State advanced two doubles teams past the first round of the three-day KSU Invitational held Friday at Ahearn Field House.

K-State’s Hayley McIver and Aveen Alkhatib defeated Creighton’s Katie Chiu and Megan Kowal, 8-4, while Wildcat teammates Paulina Castillejos and Maria Rosenberg downed Missouri’s Mary Barry and Erika Josbena, 9-8.

In the opening round of doubles action, sophomore Jessica Simosa and junior Judith Diaz swept Creighton’s Kim Cavan and Molly Green, 8-0, but later fell 8-2 to Missouri’s Urska Juric and Yelena Olshanskaya in the round of 8.

Doubles play continues tomorrow along with the start of three singles flights beginning at 9 a.m.
