Cats Sweep Doubles at Georgia Invite


 

 
 

ATHENS, Ga. In the final day of action at the Georgia Invitational, Kansas State women’s tennis swept through doubles play and captured a singles match on Sunday.

 

K-State’s 3 doubles teams took on Troy and won all three matches. In Flight A, the pairing of senior Olga Klimova and junior Katerina Kudlackova set back Annabelle Bares and Stephanie Vieira, 8-1. The pairing of Klimova and Kulackova was the top doubles team a season ago for the Wildcats, carding a record of 13-11. They are now 1-1 this season.

 

In other doubles wins, sophomore Natasha Vieira and senior Viviana Yrureta defeated Mirte De Bakker and Leonie Guiit, 8-6 in Flight B. Vieira and Yrureta and now 2-4 this season. In Flight C, the French duo of Vanessa Cottin and Pauline Guemas dropped Caroline Jounia and Caroline Tran, 8-3. It is the first win doubles win for this tandem, bringing their record to 1-2 together.

 

In singles play, freshman Antea Huljev continued to roll by defeating Elizabeth Hall of Mississippi State, 6-4, 6-0. Huljev has now won four straight matches in singles play.

 

Kansas State will begin dual play action on Saturday, Feb. 2 against Syracuse at 10 a.m. in Ahearn Field House.
