Cats Capture Pair of Doubles Wins
ATHENS, Ga. - A pair of K-State doubles teams collected wins on Friday at the Georgia Invitational at the Dan Magill Tennis Complex. This is K-State's final tuneup before the spring dual season begins on Jan. 30.
The pairing of freshman Karla Bonacic and junior Antea Huljev defeated Stephanie Davison and Caroline Larsson of Texas,8-2. This is the first time this duo has been paired together in competition. Bonacic improved to 4-4, while playing with four different playing partners. Huljev was teamed with sophomore Nina Sertic for the entire fall campaign and registered a 7-5 mark. K-State's second doubles victory came from sophomore Petra Chuda and freshman Ana Gomez Aleman. The duo defeated Abby Liu and Maya Zein-El-Abdin of Texas, 9-7. This the first win for the combination of Chuda and Gomez Aleman. Chuda now owns a 4-4 doubles mark, while Gomez Aleman improves to 3-4 in her rookie campaign. Kansas State continues action at the Georgia Invitational on Saturday morning, beginning with doubles action at 8 a.m., followed by singles matches in the afternoon. Georgia Invitational |
