MANHATTAN, Kan. - Three Kansas State Wildcats advanced to Sunday's final-round action with victories Saturday in the eighth annual Arizona State/Thunderbirds Collegiate Invitational at The Whiteman Tennis Center.

In the quarterfinals of the first round main draw consolation losers, junior Hayley McIver beat Beverly Dawson of Texas Tech, 6-1, 6-1 and then in the semifinals Anchen Lombard of Tech, 6-7 (4), 6-1, 6-0. She will play Susie Abromeit of Duke Sunday. In the quarterfinals of the second round main draw consolation losers, senior Petra Sedlmajerova beat Kirsten Balk of Northern Arizona, 6-4, 6-0 and then in the semifinals defeated Irina Tereschenko of Texas Tech, 7-5, 4-6, 6-4.

Sophomore Maria Rosenberg lost to Tara Livesay of San Diego, 6-1, 7-5 and freshman Andrea Cooper fell to Joslynn Burkett of Arizona State, 6-3, 7-6 (2) in the quarterfinals of the consolation round. Jessica Simosa advanced to the semifinal round with a 6-1, 4-6, 7-5 victory over Tara Browning of Texas Tech. The freshman then advanced to the final round of the consolation bracket with a 6-2, 6-3 victory over Catherine Heppell of San Diego. Simosa will play Burkett Sunday morning.

In doubles, both Wildcat pairs lost in the quarterfinals. McIver and Cooper lost to preseason No. 45 Mhairi Brown and Cindy Sureephong of Arizona State, 8-5, while Sedlmajerova and Simosa fell to Lauren Colalillo and Megan Yeats of Arizona State, 8-3.
