PACIFIC PALISADES, Calif. – Kansas State sophomore Petra Niedermayerova added another impressive win to her career ledger on Thursday afternoon, as she advanced to the round of 16 at the 2011 ITA/Riviera Women’s All-American Championships at the Riviera Tennis Club.
With the victory, Niedermayerova is now just one win away from receiving an automatic qualifying entry into the USTA/ITA National Indoor Intercollegiate Championships, Nov. 3-6 in Flushing N.Y.
Niedermayerova, ranked No. 35 in the preseason Campbell/ITA national singles rankings, was able to end a personal two-match downturn with a 6-2, 6-1 win over No. 18 Lindsey Hardenbergh of Virginia. The win also halted a personal three-match skid to ranked foes this season and improves her career record against ranked opponents to 8-5. This was her fourth career win (4-1) over an opponent ranked among the top-20 in the Campbell/ITA national singles rankings.
The product of Brno, Czech Republic has posted a 3-3 effort this fall and is now 27-13 (.675) in her K-State singles career. Included in her career singles record, is a mark of 22-8 (.733) in straight set matches.
Niedermayerova will face No. 5 Lauren Embree of Florida on Friday. Niedermayerova is K-State’s first representative at this prestigious event since Maria Rosenberg in the fall of 2004.
