Tennis Wins Five More Matches In Indiana

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - The Kansas State tennis team won five of its nine matches Saturday at the Hoosier Classic Invitational at the IU Varsity Tennis Courts in Bloomington, Ind.

In doubles, the Wildcats won three of their four matches, including a pair by senior Petra Sedlmajerova and sophomore Andrea Cooper. The duo beat Ohio State's Erica Fisk and Jackie Laskovar, 8-3 and the Buckeyes' Meaghan Colville and Lindsay Williams, 8-6. Sophomore Maria Rosenberg and junior Hayley McIver got K-State's third win with an 8-3 victory over Colville and Williams. Freshman Jessica Simosa and McIver took the lone doubles loss, 8-0 to Indiana's 13th-ranked doubles team of Karie Schlukeber and Linda Tran.

In singles, a pair of Wildcats picked up victories against Indiana. Rosenberg beat Sarah Battey 7-6, 6-0, while McIver was victorious over Dominika Walterova, 6-4, 6-1. Rosenberg and McIver are now both 1-1 in singles during the invitational.

Dropping matches to Indiana were Sedlmajerova (Tran, 6-4, 6-0), Cooper (Schlukeber, 6-3, 6-4) and Simosa (Martina Grimm, 6-4, 7-5).

Kansas State continues play in the Hoosier Classic Invitational on Sunday.
