Tennis Team Loses To Texas At Big 12 Tournament

KANSAS CITY, Mo. - The sixth-seeded Kansas State tennis team (13-7) ended its regular season when it lost 4-1 to third-seeded Texas (11-13) in the quarterfinals of the Big 12 Tennis Tournament at the Plaza Tennis Center. The Wildcats await a possible NCAA bid which will be announced April 30. K-State led 1-0 in the match when it won two of the three doubles points from the Longhorns. For the second time in five days, the Wildcats' No. 1 doubles team of Petra Sedlmajerova and Paulina Castillejos knocked off 19th-ranked Kendra Strohm and Ziva Grasic, 8-5. At No. 2 doubles, Andrea Cooper and Hayley McIver downed Lindsay Blau and Kelly Baritot, 8-4. The No. 3 Wildcat doubles team of Maria Rosenberg and Jessica Simosa lost their match, 8-4, to Macey Breece and Michelle Krinke. In singles, Texas won at No. 1, No. 2, No. 3 and No. 6 to win the match. Sedlmajerova lost to 59th-ranked Strohm, 6-2, 6-2 at No. 1. Rosenberg fell to Krinke 6-2, 6-2 at No. 2. Simosa also lost in two sets, 6-1, 7-5, to Baritot at No. 3. Breece won the match for the Longhorns, beating Castillejos 6-2, 6-3.
