Tennis Team Beaten By No. 27 Texas A&M

MANHATTAN, Kan. - The No. 46 Kansas State tennis team saw its modest two-match winning streak end with a 5-2 loss today to No. 27 Texas A&M at the Texas A&M Tennis Center in College Station, Texas. The loss drops Kansas State to 10-7 overall and 5-4 in the Big 12, while Texas A&M improves to 20-3 overall and 8-1 in league play. Kansas State's Alena Jecminkova was victorious in both of her matches today. She beat A&M's Jessica Roland 6-4, 6-1 at No. 1 singles for her fourth straight win. Jecminkova then teamed with freshman Andrea Cooper for an 8-5 upset victory over the No. 18-ranked doubles team of Ashley Hedberg and Roland. Jecminkova sports records of 11-6 in dual matches, 7-2 in the Big 12, and 15-11 overall at the top spot. In doubles, the K-State duo improves its records to 18-13 overall, 10-7 in dual matches and 6-3 in the Big 12. Kansas State's other point came at No. 3 singles. Junior Petra Sedlmajerova got her third consecutive win when she beat Martina Nedorostova 6-1 in the first set and then Nedorostova retired. Sedlmajerova is 11-4 in dual matches, 6-3 in conference play and 16-10 overall. KSU closes out the weekend with a noon match vs. No. 10 Texas in Austin, Texas, at Penick-Allison Tennis Center.
