COLLEGE STATION, Texas – Kansas State looked to end a three-match skid and close out the month of March with a win on Friday night, but No. 16 Texas A&M held off the K-State upset bid for a 6-1 win at the George P. Mitchell Tennis Center. K-State (5-11, 1-4 Big 12) has faced ranked opponents in seven straight matches and in 11 of the 16 matches this season.

In doubles, Texas A&M (12-1, 3-0) secured the first point of the evening with wins at number one and two doubles. K-State’s number three tandem of freshmen Marketa Trousilova and Carli Wischhoff were victorious with an 8-7 decision over Sheri Olivier and Lauren Santacroce. Trousilova and Wischhoff have now won consecutive doubles matches and are now 2-5 together.

The Wildcats captured the first singles point of the night, as Carmen Borau Ramos tallied a 6-2, 6-0 win over Olivier at number six singles. Borau Ramos, a junior from Jaca, Spain, has won four of her last six outings. Borau Ramos is 5-6 this spring and 8-12 overall this season. The win on Friday night brings Borau Ramos’ career record in Big 12 action to 12-13.

The Aggies proceeded to secure the win over the Wildcats with wins at number three, five and one singles.

Kansas State will complete its two-match road trip in Texas on Sunday afternoon against No. 10 Texas on at 12 p.m. This will be K-State’s eighth straight match against a ranked opponent.
