MANHATTAN, Kan. The Kansas State women’s rowing team will open the fall season at the Head of the Oklahoma Centennial Regatta on Oct. 1-2 in Oklahoma City.
Hosted by the Oklahoma City University rowing teams, the second annual event is designed to combine the strategy and endurance of head racing with the adrenaline-fueled intensity of sprint racing. Last year, the inaugural event attracted over 10,000 spectators and competitors from across the nation.
K-State will be joined by collegiate crews hailing from Creighton, Kansas, Northwestern State, SMU and Texas. The regatta will feature a 2.5 mile Head of the Oklahoma head race and the Centennial Cup 500 meter dash on the Oklahoma River.
The Wildcats are entered in three events that span the two-day event. Three boats will race on Saturday in the Women's Varsity 4+ at 4:10 p.m. and one boat in the Women's Novice 8+ at 5:25 p.m. K-State has three boats entered in the Women's Varsity 8+ on Sunday afternoon at 12:05 p.m.
Each evening, the top six finishers from the Varsity 4+ and Varsity 8+ advance to the 500 meter sprints. Complete race results can be accessed at: www.oklahomaregatta.com.

Directions and Parking: The Head of the Oklahoma will be held on the Oklahoma River, adjacent to downtown Oklahoma City and the Bricktown entertainment district. Regatta Park is located off Byers Avenue, just west of the Byers Avenue Bridge and south of Bass Pro Shops Outdoor World retail store (visible from I-40). Only trailers and tow vehicles will be allowed into Regatta Park. All other vehicles must park in the designated Head of the Oklahoma parking areas located on the east side of Byers Avenue Bridge.

Take I-35 S into Oklahoma City. I-35 S becomes I-40 W. Merge onto CENTENNIAL EXWY/I-235 N/US-77 N via exit number 126 toward OKLA. HEALTH CENTER/STATE CAPITOL/EDMOND. Take the WESTBOUND SHERIDAN AVE exit- exit number 1C- toward DOWNTOWN. LINCOLN BLVD. turns to BYERS AVE. at RENO AVE. Head south on BYERS under I-44. REGATTA PARK IS JUST SOUTH OF THE I-44 BRIDGE AND BASS PRO SHOPS ON THE WEST SIDE OF BYERS AVE. Trailer and VIP parking will be available on the west side of BYERS AVE. All other parking will be in the marked lots of the east side of BYERS AVE.
