MANHATTAN, Kan. The Kansas State rowing team begins its 2008 fall season this Saturday in action at the 25th annual Head of the Des Moines. The Wildcats will field nine entries in four of the more than 80 events held in a variety of divisions.
The Head of the Des Moines is hosted every year by the Des Moines Rowing Club and offers competition at a number of levels including collegiate, open and masters. Among the entries in the collegiate division, the Wildcats will face in-state rival Kansas as well as Creighton. K-State will race in the 4+ and 8+ in both Novice and Varsity.
Last year the Wildcats had three first-place finishes at the Head of the Des Moines winning the Varsity 8+, Novice 8+ and Novice 4+.
