MANHATTAN, Kan. The Kansas State rowing team heads to the West Coast to take on some of the best crews in the nation at the San Diego Crew Classic. The Wildcats will participate in three events over the two-day competition on the course at Fiesta Bay-Crown Point Shores.

K-State will take on two Top Five teams Stanford and California in the Women’s Collegiate Varsity Sea World Cal Cup field. The field of 19 boats also includes St. Mary’s that is receiving votes in the USRowing/CRCA Coaches Poll.

The Wildcats will take on 15 other teams competing for the Jackie Ann Stitt Hungness Trophy in the Collegiate JV race. That race will include 2^nd Varsity crews from No. 3 Washington, Southern California (10), Washington State (11), Wisconsin (14), Michigan (15), UCLA (RV) and Iowa (RV).

Another large and strong field will battle for the Laurel Korholz Perpetual Trophy in the Novice A race with a total of 28 teams racing in two heats.

ESPNU will broadcast highlights from this year's San Diego Crew Classic on May 7 at 6 p.m.

This is the Wildcats’ first competition in two weeks, their last races coming at the three-day Longhorn Invitational. K-State will look to continue progressing through the season this weekend in San Diego before taking on rival Kansas in the Kansas Cup next weekend in Wyandotte.
