MANHATTAN, Kan. The Kansas State rowing team faced strong competition on Day Two of the Longhorn Invitational. Although the Wildcats were unable to add any first place finishes to their accolades, they did rack up some hard fought meters to stand them in good stead under pressure in future battles.

In the morning session, K-State rowed hard against Wisconsin but saw the Badgers cross the line first in five races. The first Novice 8+ was the closest to defeating Wisconsin falling by nine seconds.

In the afternoon session of the Longhorn Invitational, the Wildcats battled the Knights of Central Florida in four races and the Longhorns in one. The final race of the day pitted K-State against UCF and was the closest race of the entire competition thus far with an exciting finish at the line.

In that event, the Wildcats and the Knights battled bow ball to bow ball down the 2,000-meter course to see the UCF snatch the victory on the last stroke across the line. The Wildcats missed first place by 0.2 seconds.

The Wildcats will be back in action on Lady Bird Lake in the final day of racing in the Longhorn Invitational on Sunday against the Iowa Hawkeyes.
