MANHATTAN, Kan. Kansas State rowing debuted with a strong showing in the first day of racing at the Longhorn Invitational. Crowning the Wildcats' victories was the 1V8+'s win over Duke. K-State's boat got off with a quick start, jumping to a two-seat lead.  While both crews rowed well over a strong middle 1,000 meters, the Wildcats increased their lead to half a boat length. In the sprint to the finish, K-State turned up the heat again to win with clear water over the Blue Devils.

The 1N8+ also brought home a win in their second race ever.  After a clean start, the Wildcats were ahead of their competition from Oklahoma. They put in a solid performance, steadily inching away from the Sooners over the distance of the course, finishing with more than two lengths of open water over OU.

Although bringing home second-place finishes, the 2V8+ and 2N8+ continue to progress, adding valuable racing experience to their development.

K-State now prepares for its toughest match-up against Wisconsin in Saturday morning's segment of the Longhorn Invitational.
