MANHATTAN, Kan. The KansasState rowing team will begin its spring sprint season on Tuesday as the Wildcats travel to take on Alabama in a dual regatta. The meet will begin at 11:30 a.m. on the course at Black Warrior River in Tuscaloosa. K-State will then head to Austin, Texas, to take part in the Longhorn Invitational.
The Wildcats’ fall season was cut short after two of three scheduled events were cancelled. The Head of the Iowa hosted by the Iowa Hawkeyes was cancelled after flooding last summer damaged the course, and the Sunflower Showdown against Kansas was scratched due to inclement weather.
In the team’s only action this season, K-State swept through with wins in all four races the Wildcats competed in. The Wildcats also added one second-place finish in those four races at the Head of the Des Moines. For their strong performance the Wildcats were awarded the Collegiate Team trophy as the top university program at the regatta.
Alabama will come into the dual on Tuesday with more fresh experience after taking on Clemson, Marist and Penn at Clemson on Saturday.
