K-State Rowing Opens Season at Alabama
MANHATTAN, Kan. - The Kansas State rowing team is set to take to the water Monday and open the 2010 season. The Wildcats travel to take on the Crimson Tide of Alabama in Tuscaloosa on Black Warrior River.
Last season in a dual match with Alabama, the Wildcats claimed the 1st Varsity 8+ race and the Varsity 4+.
K-State is looking to build off another successful season from a year ago that saw the Wildcats claim 13 first-place finishes. Last season was highlighted by the 1st Varsity 8+ bringing home the Big 12 Conference title in its race with the team finishing second in the overall competition at the Big 12 Championship.
During competition this fall, the Wildcats got strong performances out of the 1st Novice 8+ boat winning at the Head of the Des Moines and taking second at the Head of the Iowa. The 1N boat won the Head of the Des Moines by nearly four minutes to open the fall season.
