MANHATTAN, Kan. – The Kansas State women’s golf team announced the signing of Carly Ragains to a NLI for the 2011-12 season. Ragains is currently a senior from Highland Village, Texas, attending Marcus High School and ranks No. 3 in the state of Texas in AJGA Polo Rankings Class of 2011.
Head Coach Kristi Knight is bringing in a four-year letterwinner and a four-time First Team All-District qualifier, including a district champion as a junior year. Ragains also ranks 58th in GolfWeek’s Class of 2011.
“Carly will be a great addition to the team in August 2011,” said Knight. “She has had the benefit of playing against tough competition in AJGA events, Texas Junior Tour events and the extremely competitive Texas high school events. She is motivated to continue to improve and take her game to the next level. Carly is excited to be a Wildcat and she is the kind of person and player we are looking for. She is a competitor and will hold herself accountable to make an impact on the Wildcat program.”
Ragains has also recorded five high school tournament wins, six second place finishes, and six top-5 finishes. She qualified for state as a sophomore, becoming the first golfer from Marcus High School to qualify in 20 years. Ragains has also claimed five top-5 finishes on the Texas Junior Golf Tour including one win.
Ragains is also involved in Mu Alpha Theta and is a Special Olympics golf volunteer. She plans to major in business.
