KIAWAH ISLAND, S.C. The Kansas State women’s golf team sits in 13th place after one round of play in their fall season finale, the Edwin Watts/Palmetto Intercollegiate, at the Oak Point Golf Course in Kiawah Island, S.C. The Wildcats shot a first-round score of 316. Leading the Wildcats is junior Katy Heffel, who shot 75 on Monday to tie for 11th.

Campbell University is in first place after carding 301 in the opening round. Big 12 rival Nebraska is currently tied for fifth, with a score of 310. Despite being in 13th place, the Wildcats are only eight shots behind third place.

Individually, the tournament has a three-way tie for first place. Husker Elli Brown, Campbell’s Alejandra Shaw and Ann Maness of Coastal Carolina all shot one-over par, 73, for the first round. Shooting two-over par on Monday, all tying for fourth, are seven players.

Also for the Wildcats, sophomore Kali Quick is tied for 33rd after firing a 78. Junior Helene Robert shot an 81, tying for 57th. Sophomore Michelle Regan is one shot behind Robert, tying for 68th. Sophomore Hailey Mireles shot an 88, placing her in 93rd.

The Wildcats continue play at the Edwin Watts/Palmetto Intercollegiate on Tuesday with the conclusion to the second round and the complete final round. The final nine holes of the second round are set to tee off at 8:15 a.m. For complete results visit www.kstatesports.com.
