Time to prepare
K-State had a nice break of action to get prepared for the Shootout at the Legends in Franklin, Ind. The Wildcats had a full two weeks off after the Mary Fossum Invitational Sept. 21-22.

About the field
K-State faces top competition in the Shootout at the Legends. For the first time this season, the Wildcats go up against No. 11 Indiana. Leading the Hoosiers is Karen Dennison, who is currently ranked No. 13 individually by golfweek.com. Ambry Bishop, a junior for Indiana, holds the women's course record at the Legends of Indiana by carding a 5-under 67. K-State also sees No. 17 Kent State for the second straight tournament. The Golden Flashes won the Mary Fossum Invitational, Sept. 21-22.

The Shootout at the Legends
Different from many tournaments, the Shootout at the Legends is not hosted by a school. Ted Bishop, the director of golf at the Legends of Indiana, is the official host of the event. The Legends of Indiana opened in 1992 and is in its sixth year of hosting the shootout. Bishop, who was a PGA professional, has two daughters who play golf. Ambry Bishop is a junior at Indiana and Ashley Bishop (23), who played golf collegiately at Kansas.

Mary Fossum Invitational Rewind
The Wildcats placed fifth at the Mary Fossum Invitational at Forest Akers West Golf Club in East Lansing, Mich., Sept. 22. K-State carded a 931 (315-302-314) in the three-round tournament. Senior Miranda Smith was low for the Wildcats, as she finished in seventh place, firing a 9-over 225. Junior Christine Boucher ended in a three-way tie for 11th place, for her second straight top-20 finish of the season.
