Three Wildcats Named All-American Scholars
A total of 199 collegiate golfers were named to the scholar teams this year. To earn the honor, a student-athlete must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.50 and have competed in at least 66 percent of the regularly scheduled competitive rounds during the year. With three student-athletes receiving this honor, K-State had the second-most selections in the Big 12. During her senior year, Sarah Heffel finished with a stroke average of 80.3. Competing in all 11 of the team’s tournaments, her best finish was at the Marilynn Smith/Sunflower Invitational, where she tied for 19th. Katy Heffel finished her sophomore campaign with a stroke average of 80.0. Competing in nine of 11 events, Heffel’s top finish was 15th at the Mountain View Invitational. She finished tied for 22nd at the Big 12 Championships as the top Wildcat finisher. Robert ended her sophomore year ranked first on the team in stroke average with 77.8. One of three Wildcats to compete in all 11 tournaments, Robert’s top finish was at the Ptarmigan/Ram Fall Classic, where she finished tied for fifth. She finished in the top 20 in three events.
