Norman, Okla. - The Kansas State women's golf team finished fourth at the Susie Maxwell Classic Tuesday. The team shot a third-round 313 for a total of 928.

"It was a little frustrating because of the confidence and energy the team had after yesterday," head coach Kristi Knight said. "We had a solid round and we played hard, but we just couldn't get going. We hung in there. Our score was lower than I thought it was going to be. This is an improvement from the last two events we've played, so we will definitely take this as a positive."

Senior Christine Boucher tied for third individually, with rounds of 73-73-78--224. Boucher was disappointed with Tuesday's round and struggled with a sore shoulder. This is her eighth top-five finish on the year.

Though she competed as an individual, senior Karen Quintelier tied for 15th. Her combined 231 was the second-best of any Wildcat at the event.

"I'm proud of Karen and happy for her," Knight said. "She and Jimmie Austin (golf course) didn't get along too well last year, so I'm happy she had some success today. I think this will help her confidence."

Host Oklahoma won the team title, shooting 308-294-298--300, while OU senior Lisa Meldrum took individual honors with a combined 215.

Junior Stephanie Limoges earned her second-best finish on the year, as she tied for 18th. Her second-round 72 was a career low and she made seven birdies throughout the event.

"Steph might have been a bit out of her comfort zone knowing she was up there with the leaders," Knight said. "She was in a position she had never been in before. I hope she gains some confidence at 72 or 73, because she has the talent."

The Wildcats continue play at the Big 12 Conference Championships April 23-24 in College Station, Texas. For coverage of the Susie Maxwell Classic, please visit www.k-statesports.com.
