NORMAN, Okla. After two rounds of play, Kansas State has two student-athletes in the top 10 of the Susie Maxwell Berning Classic in Norman, Okla. Sophomore Kali Quick leads the Wildcats and sits in fifth place at even-par 144. Sophomore Michelle Regan ended the first round in 47th place, but moved into a tie for sixth after shooting a second-round 5-under 67. Kansas State moved up six places in the team standings to sit in fifth after day one, carding rounds of 308-295603.

Two weeks off of shooting the best round of her career and tying the third best in K-State history, Regan once again made her mark. Her second-round 67 is now her career 18-hole low and now ties the second-lowest in school history. Quick’s even-par scores of 72 in both the first and second rounds ties her career low and becomes her best 18-hole score of the season.

Leading the field by 29 shots is Oklahoma State with rounds of 283-284567, 9-under par. All five golfers in the Cowgirls lineup are in the top 10, with Pernilla Lindberg atop the individual leaderboard with rounds of 72-68140, 4-under par. The only golfers standing between OSU and a sweep of the leaderboard are Quick, Regan and Nebraska’s Stephanie Ruiz.

Four other Wildcats are competing at the Susie Maxwell, including junior Katy Heffel, who is currently tied for 54th with scores of 79-78157. Junior Helene Robert is tied for 64th, carding a 15-over 159. Sophomore Hailey Mireles is one shot behind Robert in 69th place. Individually competing is freshman Krista Nelson, who is tied for 87th.
